Race Rules
Safety
- All Teams should be properly attired in Pirate theme with adequate attention to safety apparel. Use of helmets and padding is strongly encouraged for all participants.
Bed Design
- Beds should be designed with four or more wheels making contact with the street surface at all times.
- No Motorization or mechanical propulsion allowed.
Racing Teams
- Teams shall consist of one Rider, four runners/Pushers and one Alternate (who can accompany team on course to assist as needed) Rider will be 100 pounds or more in weight and Alternate can not push unless they replace 1 of other 4 pushers.
- All team members should be at least 18 years old.
During The Race
- Bed rider must sit or lay flat on the bed whenever the bed is moving.
- All runners/Pushers must be in control of the bed until it comes to a complete stop.
- Teams shouldn’t interfere or impede the progress of an opposing team.
The Course
- Starting line and Finishing line: On Water Street at Overlook Park
- Beds will proceed behind the Tides Institute building and stop. Rider will get off and remove one of the 3 flags flying from poles on the Happy Crab deck, get back on bed and proceed to the Finish line. Pushers can NOT help with the flag OR move the bed while the Rider is off getting the flags. Beds MUST remain stationary until the Rider is back on.
- Racing teams must complete the defined course and pick up one of the required flags.

- Broken Spring (“What were they thinking”)
- Best Pirate Themed Bed
